Find Hickman County Projected Release

A Hickman County projected release date depends on the custody system and the legal stage of the case. A person awaiting trial may have no set date because bond, court action, and other holds control the outcome. A sentenced person may have a computed eligibility or sentence date, but neither is proof of actual release. To answer “when will they be released,” first determine whether the record belongs to Hickman County Jail, Tennessee state custody, or another authority. Then read the official date label and confirm the final custody event.

Hickman Projected and Actual Release

Tennessee uses several dates for different tasks. A calculated eligibility milestone tells when a sentence may reach a release or parole process under the governing law. Sentence End Date is a separate term. The actual Date of Release records the day custody staff completed a release. These fields should never be collapsed into one “get out” date.

A pretrial detainee has no fixed projected release date. The case may turn on bond conditions, dismissal, a plea, trial, court order, time served, or a detainer. A detainer is a request or legal hold from another authority. Even when Hickman County Jail ends its custody, that hold can lead to a transfer rather than community release. Ask the court for the order and the sheriff for the release or movement entry.

Scheduled vs actual release: An eligibility or sentence date forecasts a legal milestone. Only the final agency record or event confirms the custody outcome.
Release Eligibility Date
The Tennessee milestone at which release or parole consideration may become possible under the sentence.
Sentence End Date
A separate expiration or maximum-term field shown in the sentence record.
Date of Release
The actual date on TDOC's authorization or another originating custody record.
Detainer
A hold or pickup request that can turn a planned release into transfer to another authority.

Find Hickman Projected Release Dates

Start by identifying who keeps time. For a person at Turney Center Industrial Complex or another TDOC facility, Tennessee's public system is Felony Offender Information Lookup, or FOIL. It covers felony offenders currently or formerly in TDOC custody or supervision. For a county sentence, the sentencing court and Hickman County Sheriff's Department may hold the relevant judgment, jail credit, calculation, and release entry. FOIL may not include a local misdemeanor or short jail episode.

  1. Identify whether the custody is pretrial, a Hickman jail sentence, TDOC, federal, or another authority.
  2. For TDOC, search FOIL by TDOC ID or SID when known, or use a carefully matched name and aliases.
  3. Match the date of birth and identifier before opening the detail record.
  4. Read Current Status and Assigned Location before reading any release date.
  5. Compare Release Eligibility Date, Sentence End Date, and Parole Hearing Result without treating them as actual release.
  6. For Hickman jail custody, request the judgment, jail-credit detail, computation, and release or movement entry.
  7. Confirm a completed release with the actual agency record or event.

The FOIL detail layout is the source for the Tennessee date labels shown below.

The detail screen places status, location, sentence dates, RED, and parole fields together. Reading only one field can create the wrong conclusion.

For an old TDOC matter or a date conflict, use the TDOC archived-record request. Ask for sentence computation, date detail, CR-1947 Offender Release Authorization, and release confirmation for the named custody episode.

TDOC Records Management can use the full name, TOMIS or TDOC number, date of birth, and a detailed description of the requested records. The written address is the Rachel Jackson Building, 2nd Floor, 320 6th Avenue North, Nashville, TN 37243-0465. Archive-search charges may apply, so TDOC says not to prepay and will advise of charges. Questions may be directed to 615-253-8079.

Hickman RED, Decision, Release

FOIL calls the computed milestone Release Eligibility Date (RED). RED is the exact public label. It is not labeled “projected release date” in Tennessee, even though that is a common search phrase. RED marks the point at which the applicable sentence may become eligible for parole or another release process. It does not promise a favorable decision or a walk through the gate.

The next event may be a Board decision. A grant means the Tennessee Board of Parole approved release subject to remaining terms. TDOC states that an approved release plan and other pre-release conditions may still be required. The Board hearing schedule route helps locate upcoming proceedings, while FOIL's Parole Hearing Result shows a public person-level outcome. Neither is the gate log.

Actual release is the third event. TDOC Policy 511.03 describes same-day checks and the CR-1947 release authorization. Staff recheck sentence data, expiration, unprocessed sentences, court flags, new sentences, and detainers. A conflict or missing central confirmation stops release. This process explains why RED, a Board grant, and Date of Release may differ.

Note: A transfer from TCIX to another TDOC institution is continued incarceration, even when the assigned location changes on the public record.

Hickman Release Credits and Law

TDOC calculates release eligibility from the judgment, sentence structure, jail credit, and credits allowed by law. Tenn. Code Ann. § 40-35-501 contains offense- and offense-date-specific eligibility rules. Sections 40-28-115 through 40-28-117 address timekeeping. Section 41-21-1006 gives TDOC calculation responsibility for TDOC prisoners and qualifying felony offenders sentenced to a county jail or workhouse for one year or more.

Sentence-reduction credits are addressed by Tenn. Code Ann. § 41-21-236 and TDOC Policy 502.02. The policy distinguishes credits tied to qualifying work, education, or vocational participation from monthly credits that may be awarded for satisfactory program work and institutional conduct. Forfeiture can move RED later when the law permits, and some older forfeiture categories cannot be restored.

There is no universal Tennessee 85 percent rule. The controlling percentage depends on the offense, offense date, classification, judgment, sentence structure, and the applicable part of § 40-35-501. Tennessee's Truth in Sentencing Act applies to covered offenses committed on or after July 1, 2022. The official Public Chapter 988 history documents enumerated 100 percent groups and a separate group often called 85 percent offenses. For the latter, qualifying program credits may permit up to the final 15 percent on parole rather than erase the term.

Do not multiply a sentence by a broad percentage. Use the current judgment and let TDOC calculate RED. Consecutive sentences run one after another, while concurrent sentences run at the same time. That structure alone can change a rough estimate by years.

Jail credit can also change the calculation. It accounts for qualifying time already spent in custody under the judgment. A new or corrected order may alter that credit, and FOIL may update after TDOC receives the document. Credit for program work is a different concept. Both must come from the official computation rather than a personal estimate.

Why Hickman Release Dates Change

A public date can change before the planned day. FOIL warns that dates may shift as more court documents arrive. The sentence record can also change because of jail credit, sentence structure, a new judgment, disciplinary forfeiture, or a legal hold. Board action affects release planning but does not rewrite every sentence field in the same way.

On release day, TDOC performs another check. A date viewed weeks earlier is therefore a planning point, not a guarantee. For county custody, the jail may also need the final court order and confirmation that no other authority has a hold.

Hickman Jail and TCIX Dates

Hickman County has two sharply different timekeeping paths. The county jail holds pretrial people, locally sentenced people, and some TDOC backup prisoners. A pretrial person has no sentence-based release schedule. For a local sentence, ask the Hickman court for the judgment, sentence, and jail credit, then ask the Sheriff's Department for the computation and release or movement entry. The official sheriff contact listing provides the direct local route.

TCIX is a state prison. For a person there, FOIL is the public date source, TDOC is the timekeeper, and CR-1947 is stronger evidence of actual release. A parole status can indicate community supervision, while an incarcerated status or a new TDOC location shows that prison custody continues. Tennessee SAVIN can add a release or transfer alert, but the agency record confirms the event.

A federal sentence follows federal calculations. The BOP locator may show a projected date that can change, but Tennessee credit laws do not control it. Identify the sovereign before using any date. The Hickman County release search separates the county, state, and federal paths for a past custody event.

Some county prisoners may be TDOC backup prisoners. Physical placement at Hickman County Jail does not by itself identify the timekeeper. Ask whether TDOC holds the sentence record. Section 41-21-1006 also gives TDOC a calculation role for qualifying felony offenders sentenced to a county jail or workhouse for one year or more. The judgment and agency ID resolve that overlap.

Confirm Hickman Actual Release

Use the final record from the custodian that held the person. For TDOC, compare current status and assigned location with the CR-1947 authorization and Date of Release. For Hickman County Jail, request the inmate-register entry, release order, and booking or movement log. A court judgment explains the legal basis but may not prove when the person crossed the gate.

Tennessee SAVIN can provide a pending event alert. Registration and PIN steps are covered on the VINELink Inmate Search page. Treat that alert as a prompt to call the supplying agency. If another authority picked up the person, search that receiving system instead of describing the event as a community release.

The responsible sequence is simple: identify custody, read the exact official date label, check the controlling judgment and credits, and confirm the final agency event. RED answers an eligibility question. The Board result answers a decision question. Date of Release and “Released to” answer what actually happened.

CR-1947 preserves more than a date. The form includes the TDOC identifier and name, sentence dates, RED, detainers or pending charges, the staff member who released the person, the Date of Release, “Released to,” intended address, signatures, records verification, property and funds, and gate checks. Those operational fields can distinguish community release from transfer.
